Alfred Large Planter - 5 inch Pot & Saucer

Alfred was my grandfather on my Dad’s side. He left his home in Wales and came to Canada when he was a teenager, journeying “across the pond” alone and starting a new life for himself. He dedicated his career to psychiatric nursing, founding the Registered Psychiatric Nursing Association of Manitoba in 1960. He was also a great singer, with a big booming voice you might not expect from such a tall, slender man, and had a penchant for tending his flowers in the backyard. All of these might have been considered more “feminine” pursuits in his time but Alf would have heard none of it. He was a big, strong teddy bear and I think these pots honour that dichotomy well.
